Therapeutic Approach
I value collaboration, openness, creativity, and transparency in my work. I believe you are the expert in your life and I offer my skills and learning based on your needs. In traditional therapy the body is often overlooked, but I believe that when we learn how to be with/in our bodies we reconnect with our own embodied wisdom and power. I will guide and support you in connecting to the living, embodied experience of your life as it reveals itself in not only your thoughts, but also in the sensations and feelings in your body. This practice of inner listening can gently and powerfully reveal who you are beneath the surface of ordinary awareness. You'll have the opportunity to explore how automatic and unconscious patterns—in your body, mind, and heart—contribute to suffering. Together, we'll uncover and directly experience the wisdom, goodness, and freedom that lie beneath these patterns.
The Hakomi method, which integrates Buddhist contemplative practices, Gestalt Therapy, Parts Work, Somatic Experiencing, and Attachment Theory, is central to my approach. As opposed to a traditional top down Western psychotherapeutic approach, in Hakomi the client is the authority of their experience — whatever arises within you is what I follow, with a curious, nonjudgmental and loving presence.
My approach is liberation-informed, meaning I consider the broader social and systemic factors that influence mental & physical health, while actively recognizing and challenging the injustices and inequalities that shape your experiences.

+Though my work is therapeutic, it is not psychotherapy and isn’t a substitution for psychotherapy if that’s what you’re in need of+
